WASHINGTON (AP) – Here’s how Gilbert Arenas looks at his role with the Washington Wizards: show No. 1 pick John Wall the ropes, then move on.
Arenas spoke after the Wizards’ preseason opener Tuesday night, the first time he was met with reporters since his brief comments on the eve of training camp. He was again expressionless, maintaining the serious demeanor he presented throughout camp.
Arenas said his role is to “teach John the ins and the outs of the game, and then eventually go on and move on – on my way.”
Arenas added that “right now the city is John’s.”
Arenas is attempting a comeback after a knee injury and a 50-game suspension for a felony gun conviction limited him to 47 games over the past three seasons.
