Spurs sign F Gaines, release G Morrison Print

 SAN ANTONIO (AP) -The Spurs signed forward Charles Gaines and waived guard Brian Morrison on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-9 Gaines spent the past four seasons in Europe, mostly recently with Galatasaray Cafecrown in the Turkish TBL League. He averaged 12.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in 28 regular-season games and 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in 17 ULEB Cup games.
Gaines, who played at Southern Miss, had other pro stops in Spain, France, Italy and the Continental Basketball Association.
Morrison, a former UCLA player on the summer league team, was released a day after joining the Spurs' training camp roster. The team opened camp Tuesday.
