MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Timberwolves signed center John Edwards on Wednesday.
The 7-footer played most recently in the NBA’s developmental league.
Edwards went undrafted out of Kent State and appeared in 25 games with the Indiana Pacers during the 2004-05 season. He played in 40 games for the Atlanta Hawks in 2005-06.
Training camp starts Saturday for the Wolves, who will spend 10 days in Europe after their first practice at Target Center. The addition of Edwards could make rookie Chris Richard less likely to sign his contract. The team has extended the second-round draft pick from Florida a qualifying offer, but he must accept it before the weekend to be included in this season’s plans.
