MIAMI (AP) -Point guard Brian Chase signed with the Miami Heat on Tuesday, one week before the team opens training camp.
The 5-foot-9 Chase was with the Utah Jazz at the beginning of last season, and did not appear in any regular-season games. He averaged 16.7 points for Los Angeles of the NBA Development League last season.
Chase ranked among the Big East leaders in 3-point percentage during his college career at Virginia Tech. He's the fourth point guard on Miami's training-camp roster, joining Jason Williams, Smush Parker and Chris Quinn.
