MIAMI (AP) – Udonis Haslem’s attorney says marijuana possession charges against the Miami Heat forward have been dropped.
Attorney Eric Schwartzreich was told by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office on Thursday that one felony count of possession and four misdemeanor counts of having drug paraphernalia will not be pursued. Haslem was arrested Aug. 15 after being stopped for speeding.
Haslem’s 2008 Mercedes, seized by the Florida Highway Patrol after the arrest, was returned earlier this week.
Schwartzreich says prosecutors say the case was dropped because Haslem’s fingerprints were not on a container where marijuana was found. A passenger in Haslem’s car claimed ownership of the marijuana.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel first reported the case’s dismissal.
