MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Goodbye, Ricky Rubio. Hello, Ramon (ruh-MAHN) Sessions.
The Minnesota Timberwolves introduced Sessions on Tuesday as the first significant free agent signing since new president David Kahn was hired in May.
Kahn signed Sessions to an offer sheet a day-and-a-half after Rubio told the Timberwolves he was staying in Spain for at least the next two seasons. The Milwaukee Bucks declined to match the four-year, $16 million offer.
So Sessions comes to Minnesota ready to fill Rubio’s shoes and pair with rookie Jonny Flynn in the backcourt.
Sessions talked earlier this summer with the New York Knicks, but never received an offer. He says he lost a lot of sleep over the summer, but is happy to be in Minnesota with the rebuilding Timberwolves.
