MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -Josh Smith’s agent said Friday the restricted free-agent forward is considering a contract offer from the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Smith averaged 17.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in helping Atlanta make the playoffs last season, his fourth after the Hawks drafted him out of high school in the first round in 2004.
Smith’s agent, Wallace Prather, confirmed talks but declined to give details.
“We’re in the process of getting it all signed and everything, and that’s all I can say right now,” Prather said.
If Smith accepts the offer, the Hawks will have seven days to match it. The Grizzlies and the Hawks declined comment.
