INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Travis Diener, a little-used point guard with the Orlando Magic the past two seasons, signed a contract with the Indiana Pacers on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although his agent, Doug Neustadt, said last week Diener had agreed to a three-year package that includes a player option to void the contract after the second year. He is expected to back up Jamaal Tinsley.
The 6-foot, 1-inch Diener, who averaged 14 points at Marquette and finished as the school’s career leader in 3-pointers, was picked by Orlando in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft. He played in 49 games with the Magic, averaging 3.8 points in 11 minutes a game before he became a free agent after last season.
