AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -The Detroit Pistons signed Senegalese center Cheick Samb on Tuesday.
Samb, 22, averaged 9.6 points the past two seasons with WTC Cornella of the Spanish League. He also led the league in blocked shots.
So far, he's averaged 7.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in the NBA summer league in Las Vegas.
Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Samb will be brought along slowly.
The Lakers selected Samb with the 51st overall selection in the 2006 draft, but traded his rights to Detroit for swing man Maurice Evans, who averaged 5.0 points in 80 games for the Pistons in 2005-2006.
