MILWAUKEE (AP) -First-round draft pick Joe Alexander signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
As the eighth overall pick, the 6-foot-8 forward from West Virginia will make just over than $2 million a year, according to the NBA’s rookie payscale.
Alexander, the first NBA player to be born in Taiwan, will join the Bucks for summer league games in Las Vegas starting this weekend.
As a junior last season, the 21-year-old led the Mountaineers by averaging 16.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
He was drafted hours after the Bucks acquired veteran forward Richard Jefferson from the New Jersey Nets in a trade for forwards Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. The Bucks are coming off their worst season since 1996 after a 26-56 finish placed them last in the Central Division.
