SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -Baron Davis is on the verge of signing a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, a day after he shocked the Golden State Warriors by opting out of the final season of his contract to become a free agent.
While refusing to directly confirm an ESPN.com report that he has agreed to sign with Golden State's Pacific Division rivals, Davis was already speaking in the past tense about the Warriors when he spoke to reporters Tuesday night before attending the Bay Area premiere of a documentary he produced.
The 29-year-old Davis averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds while playing in all 82 games last season for the Warriors.
