CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago Bulls have spent months getting ready for the free agency frenzy that’s about to begin.
LeBron James heads what might be the NBA’s greatest free-agent class and the Bulls have enough salary cap space to lure two stars to Chicago. The Bulls can make themselves championship contenders for years with the right sales pitch and maybe rekindle memories of the Michael Jordan-Scottie Pippen championship teams.
Besides James, top free agents include Chicago native Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and even Dirk Nowitzki.
The Bulls freed up money by letting leading scorer Ben Gordon sign with Detroit last summer and traded away John Salmons during the season. Last week, they agreed to trade guard Kirk Hinrich and his $9 million salary to Washington.
Free agency begins at midnight (Eastern) on Thursday.
