CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Charlotte Hornets have drafted Xavier point guard Semaj Christon with the No. 55 pick.
People familiar with the deal says the Charlotte Hornets acquired the rights to the No. 55 pick in an earlier trade with Miami Thursday night that sent Shabazz Napier to the Heat. The person says the Hornets got the 26th and 55th picks from Miami for the rights to Napier.
The person spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been completed by the NBA.
Christon averaged 17 points and 4.1 assists last year for Xavier becoming only the second sophomore in school history with more than 1,000 points in a season.
If he remains with the Hornets he could be a potential backup for Kemba Walker.
