EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New Jersey Nets have selected Derrick Favors with the third pick in the NBA Draft.
The Nets posted a league-worst 12-70 record this past season and need help at almost every position.
In taking the 18-year-old Favors – the youngest American player in the draft – New Jersey and new coach Avery Johnson get a super athletic power forward with a huge upside. Some experts have compared him to a young Dwight Howard.
The Georgia Tech player averaged 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.
