DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) -The Chicago Bulls have selected forward Kevin Seraphin from French Guyana with the 17th pick in the draft, though they’re not expected to keep him.
The Bulls agreed to trade veteran guard Kirk Hinrich and their first-round pick to the Washington Wizards for a future second-rounder on Thursday, a person familiar with the situation said, creating enough salary cap room to go after two star free agents. The person told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the deal can’t become official until July 8.
General manager Gar Forman acknowledged the Bulls “are currently in discussions” to trade their rights to Seraphin but would not reveal the team or any other specifics.
The 6-foot-9 Seraphin spent the past four years playing at various levels with French club Cholet Basket and signed a three-year contract last August.
