MIAMI (AP) -Sunday is a big day for Dwyane Wade, for reasons most people might not realize.
It’s the fourth anniversary of the Miami Heat beating the Dallas Mavericks for the 2006 NBA title, the series where Wade’s spectacular play earned him the finals MVP trophy.
However, that isn’t what makes June 20 significant this year.
It’s Father’s Day, and Wade will have his two young sons by his side for the occasion. Their relationships have been largely truncated by a nasty divorce and custody fight the Heat star and his estranged wife have waged since 2007. Wade says this summer’s priority, bigger than even free agency, is reconnecting with his boys.
Wade says, “You never get these years back with your kids.”
