CLEVELAND (AP) -A person familiar with Tom Izzo’s travel plans says the Michigan State coach is in Cleveland to meet with the Cavaliers about becoming their coach. He arrived at Burke Lakefront Airport on Thursday afternoon.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Cavs are not commenting on their coaching search.
Izzo has flirted with jumping to the NBA several times. He is expected to meet with Cleveland’s front office and tour the team’s facilities.
He is believed to be mulling a contract worth up to $6 million per season. The team has been searching for a coach since firing Mike Brown following the club’s second-round playoff collapse to the Boston Celtics.
