EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -If Kobe Bryant is disappointed to learn his long-anticipated NBA finals showdown with LeBron James is off for at least another year, the Lakers star isn’t showing it.
Bryant had almost nothing to say Friday about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff elimination, which ruined perhaps the best chance yet for a playoff meeting with James.
Everybody from basketball historians to Nike’s puppets have been waiting for it, but the chances for those two stars to get together look slimmer than ever.
Although James is down and perhaps out of Cleveland, Bryant is still standing on his gimpy ankle. With four championship rings already in his vault, he won’t slow down heading into the Western Conference finals just because King James isn’t waiting for him on the other side.
