OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Memphis Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger says injured point guard Mike Conley is going to try to play in Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors.
Conley was warming up wearing a protective mask before Tuesday night’s game. He had been upgraded from doubtful to questionable after the team’s morning shootaround in San Francisco.
Joerger says if Conley plays Tuesday night, he will start. Conley has missed the last three games recovering from surgery to repair broken bones in his face.
He has been shooting and going through non-contact drills, including before Sunday’s series opener. The left side of his face is still swollen.
The Grizzlies have started Nick Calathes and brought Beno Udrih off the bench the past three games. The Warriors lead the second-round series 1-0.
