INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) – LeBron James has lifted his personal media boycott to congratulate good friend Chris Paul.
Cleveland’s star doesn’t use his cellphone during the postseason. He avoids social media and watches NBA games with the sound muted. He changed his policy Saturday when Paul hit a game-winning layup in the final seconds of Game 7 to send the Los Angeles Lakers past defending champion San Antonio.
James says he grabbed his wife’s phone and called Paul. James says he told Paul ”how amazing he was and how great he was and I hung up on him, I haven’t spoken to him since.”
The Cavaliers open their Eastern Conference semifinal Monday against Chicago. It’s Cleveland’s first game in eight days, and James says he did everything he could to pass the time.
