DALLAS (AP) -The Dallas Mavericks are well aware of the long odds they’re facing in trying to overcome a 3-1 deficit in their playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs.
Yet they also have a couple of guys who know how it’s done.
Of the 189 teams that have been in such a hole, only eight have won the series – and the Mavericks have connections to the two most recent.
Forward Shawn Marion was with the Phoenix Suns when they pulled off the rally against the Lakers in 2006.
Coach Rick Carlisle was coaching the Detroit Pistons in 2003 when they did it against Orlando.
The Suns and Pistons were the higher seed, so they had Games 5 and 7 at home. The Mavs have that luxury, too, with Game 5 on Tuesday night.
