ATLANTA (AP) – After finally looking like a top seed, the Indiana Pacers are heading to a place where they haven’t had much success.
The Pacers have won only twice in Atlanta since December 2006, though one of those victories wrapped up their playoff series against the Hawks a year ago.
Indiana still has plenty of work to do before it can think about escaping the first round. The Hawks swiped the home-court edge with a stunning win in the opener, and the series is tied 1-1 as it shifts to Philips Arena for the next two contests.
Game 3 is Thursday night.
At least the Pacers are feeling better about themselves. A dominant third quarter carried Indiana to a 101-85 victory in Game 2, stifling the incessant criticism of the team’s recent play.
