ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -Stan Van Gundy has a request for the NBA: fewer days off between games in the playoffs.
The Orlando Magic coach said Wednesday before his team’s game against Charlotte that “it’s almost like you’re on a high school schedule or a college schedule” in the first round. He understands the lucrative TV contracts that slot the games apart, but he’d rather see the league play back-to-back games in the playoffs like Major League Baseball.
Van Gundy says “baseball gets their whole playoffs and World Series done in like three weeks. Us, it takes us the first round to go three weeks.”
Van Gundy also has been critical this season of the NBA playing on holidays. But he says he’s not griping too much because the league is “making money because of TV.”
