OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -Oklahoma City Thunder officials say Scott Brooks will continue as the team’s head coach after taking over early in the season for P.J. Carlesimo.
General manager Sam Presti said Wednesday that Brooks proved his ability to communicate with a young team while demonstrating the necessary passion to help players improve.
Oklahoma City was 1-13 when Brooks took over on Nov. 22, and was 21-47 afterward.
A native of Lathrop, Calif., Brooks spent six years as an NBA assistant coach with the Thunder (2007-2008), Denver Nuggets (2003-2006) and Sacramento Kings (2006-2007) following an 11-year NBA playing career.
