CLEVELAND (AP) – Kyrie Irving doesn’t want the Cavaliers’ final game of this disheartening season to look anything like the team’s previous two.
Showing little fight, the Cavs were beaten over the weekend by Milwaukee and Boston – two of the NBA’s worst teams. They’re hoping to rebound and end another non-playoff season on a positive note Wednesday night at home against Brooklyn. Irving said the team’s recent performances were ”disappointing … and our fans don’t deserve it.”
Irving said the team hasn’t been able to shake off not making the postseason again, but that can’t be used as an excuse.
The All-Star guard acknowledged it’s been a challenging season for the Cavs, who were unable to dig their way back from a dreadful first half under coach Mike Brown. Still, Irving feels like the Cavs are headed in the right direction.
