NEW ORLEANS (AP) -A Utah Jazz spokesman says center Mehmet Okur will not play against the New Orleans Hornets because of a left Achilles’ tendon strain.
Okur had been playing with pain in the tendon for a couple games but left during the third quarter of Utah’s loss at Houston on Wednesday night.
The teams says the pain remains too much for Okur to play in Friday night’s game in New Orleans.
Okur has been averaging 13.3 points and seven rebounds. Paul Millsap, who is averaging 11.7 points and 6.5 rebounds, is slated to start in Okur’s place.
