MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Al Jefferson has been deactivated for the game against Golden State for undisclosed “personal reasons.”
Jefferson missed practice on Tuesday and the shootaround on Wednesday morning. Coach Kurt Rambis says the absences are excused and he hopes to have his leading scorer back for practice on Thursday.
Jefferson is averaging 17.4 points and 9.4 rebounds this season, trying to work his way back from reconstructive surgery on his right knee. Jefferson has played in 73 of Minnesota’s 77 games, missing two in March for a suspension related to a drunken driving arrest and two in November for his grandmother’s death.
For the Warriors, forward Ronny Turiaf was activated after missing the game Tuesday against Washington because of an illness.
