NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Hornets center Tyson Chandler was scratched from the lineup because of left ankle soreness before New Orleans hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
Chandler sprained his left ankle in January and missed 16 games before returning to the lineup in late February, playing throughout a seven-game winning streak. But after Monday night’s loss to Houston, Chandler said he did not believe his ankle was fully healed.
Hornets coach Byron Scott said Hilton Armstrong would start at center.
Chandler’s absence put the Hornets down two starters as Peja Stojakovic (back) sat out his eighth straight game.
