MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Washington Wizards point guard Mike James missed Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of an illness.
Coach Ed Tapscott said James had flulike symptoms and a fever and could not play. James is averaging 8.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists this season.
After signing a contract worth more than $25 million in 2006 to come to the Timberwolves, James spent just one disappointing season in Minnesota and has bounced around since.
He has played for Houston, New Orleans and the Wizards in the last two seasons. James hit two big 3-pointers down the stretch in a victory over Minnesota on Feb. 17.
Javaris Crittenton got his second career start in James’ place.
