ATLANTA (AP) -Atlanta’s Marvin Williams and New Orleans’ Peja Stojakovic were held out of Monday night’s game with back problems.
After meeting with “a couple” doctors, according to Hawks coach Mike Woodson, Williams was not in uniform because of a sore lower back. Mo Evans replaced Williams in the starting lineup.
Woodson said he didn’t know when Williams would return.
Williams is averaging 14.0 points per game, fourth on the team.
Stojakovic missed his third straight game with back spasms. Julian Wright, who matched his career high by scoring 20 points while filling in for Stojakovic in Saturday’s win over Oklahoma City, was back in the starting lineup on Monday night.
Stojakovic missed most of the 2006-07 season because of back surgery. He has played in 53 games this season, averaging 13.8 points.
