OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Golden State guard Monta Ellis will rest his surgically repaired left ankle for at least one week after experiencing occasional stiffness since his season debut for the Warriors last month.
Ellis is averaging 13.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 13 games since returning Jan. 23. His ankle was badly injured last summer in an accident on a motorized scooter. After Sunday’s practice, the Warriors announced Ellis will go back into advanced rehabilitation on his ankle for up to two weeks.
Ellis missed five months of court time after the injury, which occurred just a few weeks after he signed a $66 million contract extension with Golden State. The Warriors suspended Ellis for 30 games without pay for the incident, which violated his new contract.
Ellis, a second-round pick out of high school in Jackson, Miss., in 2005, scored 14 points while playing 32 minutes in the Warriors’ 133-120 victory over Oklahoma City on Saturday night.
