NEW YORK (AP) -Final television ratings showed a big increase in viewership for the NBA All-Star game.
The game in Phoenix on Sunday night, featuring a Kobe Bryant-Shaquille O’Neal reunion, earned a 4.5 national rating on TNT, the network said Thursday. That’s up 17 percent from last year.
The game was watched by more than 7.6 million people.
The West beat the East 146-119, with Bryant and O’Neal sharing MVP honors.
Coverage of Saturday night’s All-Star festivities drew a 3.9 national rating, a 25 percent increase from last year. The event was watched by nearly 6.6 million viewers, the most in its 24-year history.
