TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -The New Jersey Nets have reached a deal to move their regular-season games to the Prudential Center in Newark for two years until their new arena is built in Brooklyn.
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority voted to approve the deal Thursday morning. The Nets will play next season and the 2011-12 season in Newark.
Under the deal, the Nets will pay a $4 million penalty over two years to get out of their lease at the Meadowlands. That fee could be offset by advertising and suite revenues.
The new downtown Newark arena is home to the New Jersey Devils.
