PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand will miss the rest of the season and likely need surgery on his dislocated shoulder.
The injury was confirmed by a person familiar with the decision. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because an announcement had not been made.
There was no immediate word when Brand would need surgery.
Brand was first injured in a Dec. 17 game against Milwaukee and has played in six games since his return. Brand signed a five-year deal worth nearly $80 million in July and averaged only 13.8 points in 29 games.
Brand’s surgery was first reported on ComcastSportsnet.
The 76ers play the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night.
