INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -The agent for Indiana Pacers guard Jamaal Tinsley expects the NBA Players Association to file a grievance in the next week against the team, according to media reports.
Tinsley has not played this season and has not been allowed to practice with the team. Though he’s listed on the Indiana roster, team president Larry Bird has said the Pacers don’t intend to bring him back.
ESPN.com reported the grievance will be filed within the next week.
“We’ve tried to deal with the Pacers in a professional matter, but it’s gotten us nowhere,” Tinsley’s agent, Raymond Brothers, told The Indianapolis Star. “We just want to get the situation resolved so Jamaal can resume his career.”
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 19, and Tinsley has two years and $14.7 million left on his contract after this season.
Tinsley has been with the Pacers since 2001-02. He played in just 39 games last season, the fewest in his seven-year NBA career.
But the Pacers deemed Tinsley expendable in a roster shake-up that brought in seven new players over the summer.
His nameplate was removed from his locker at Conseco Fieldhouse, and the team sent his belongings to him in Atlanta.
