NEW YORK (AP) -Juan Fernandez scored 13 points, Scootie Randall had 12, and No. 16 Temple came on after a poor-shooting opening half to beat Fordham 62-45 on Saturday, extending the Owls’ winning streak to six and the Rams’ losing streak to 11.
The Owls (17-3, 5-0 Atlantic 10) won for the 12th time in 13 games. They are the lone Atlantic 10 team that’s undefeated in conference play and have their best record after 20 games since their 1993-94 team also began at 17-3.
Chris Gaston had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Rams (2-16, 0-6), who are 1-12 since Jared Grasso took over as interim coach after Dereck Whittenburg was fired.
Fordham fell to 6-91 against ranked teams since The Associated Press began its weekly polls in 1948.
Temple led by three at the half and went on a 16-4 burst to start the second half to go up 38-23. The Owls shot 66.7 percent from the floor after the break.
