NEW YORK (AP) -Sixteen NBA Development League games will air on Versus this season.
The cable network announced Monday it will televise 10 regular-season and six playoff games of the NBA’s minor league. The regular-season games will be broadcast Saturday nights at 11 p.m. EST starting Jan. 16. Playoff coverage begins April 10.
Twenty-five D-League regular-season games were already scheduled to air live or taped on NBA TV this season. All games are available online.
Versus’ coverage will include players and coaches wearing microphones, in-game interviews and locker room speeches.
While this deal is just for D-League games, Versus owner Comcast, with its pending merger with NBC, could eventually bid for NBA rights when the current contracts with ESPN/ABC and Turner expire.
