CLEVELAND (AP) -Cavaliers forward Cedric Simmons, slowed this season by a sprained ankle, was assigned to Rio Grande Valley of the NBA’s Developmental League on Wednesday.
Simmons, acquired in an offseason trade with New Orleans for guard David Wesley, played in just four games for the Cavs.
Simmons, who turns 22 Thursday, averaged 2.9 points and 2.5 rebounds in 43 games as a rookie for New Orleans. He was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2006 draft.
