The Pistons have been in a bit of a funk lately, dropping three of their last four games while being held to 95 points or less in three of the four games. Detroit is now 14-15 on the season and 14-15 against the spread. They have covered in their wins and not covered in their losses. They are now averaging only 98.9 points per game for the season. Detroit will have some depth issues tonight with Jon Leuer, the backup power forward, questionable to play with a back injury. Marcus Morris may need to go most of the game. He is averaging 13.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. Despite the offensive woes, Detroit is still a tough defensive team that is giving up just 96.9 points per game. That ranks third in the NBA.
Chicago is also in a pretty big funk right now, losing three straight while being held under 100 points in each loss. That includes a really poor effort on Friday in a 95-69 loss to the Bucks at home. The Bulls are 13-13 against the spread this year, but have failed to cover in seven of their last eight. Chicago is averaging 101.1 points per game on offense now while giving up 100.0 points per contest. Jimmy Butler is averaging 24.8 points and 6.7 rebounds to lead this offense while Dwyane Wade is putting up 19.5 points per game. Taj Gibson left the last game with a hip injury, but he is expected to play tonight. He is the third-leading scorer at 12.1 points per game.

It’s hard to feel good about wagering on any of these two right now, but Detroit has beaten Chicago already this year and just needs to take care of the basketball to win tonight. When the Pistons have avoided turnovers, like when they had just 9 against the Bulls, they usually do well. The Bulls are coming off a rough-shooting night against the Bucks and Detroit’s defense should be able to keep those struggles going.
