Wizards drop four straight
Washington is in a funk right now, losing four straight and seven of their last eight. They are coming off a 128-111 loss at Memphis on Saturday night. The Wizards are 7-17 on the season, 3-11 on the road, 12-11-1 against the spread and 13-10-1 with the over.
Washington has a solid offense, but one of the worst defenses in the league. The Wizards are putting up 117.4 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from the arc. The defense is allowing 122.4 points per game while opponents shoot 49.7 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from the arc. The Wizards will be without Moritz Wagner tonight due to injury. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 27.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. David Bertans is adding 15.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.
Pistons upset Rockets
The Detroit Pistons are coming off a 115-107 win at Houston on Saturday for their third win and cover in four games. Detroit is 11-15 on the season, 8-5 at home, 11-14-1 against the spread and 14-12 with the over.
The Pistons are putting up just 108.9 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit gives up just 108.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.4 percent against them. The Pistons could be without both top players, Blake Griffin (knee) and Andre Drummond (eye). Drummond is putting up 17.7 points and 16.6 rebounds per game while Griffin averages 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Derrick Rose is adding 16.4 points and 6.0 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The Wizards are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog.
Detroit
The Pistons are 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games as a home favorite and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall.
Prediction:
These two met back on Nov. 4 with Washington earning a 115-99 win at home as a 3.5-point favorite. You will have to keep an eye on the injury report for this one. Certainly the Pistons are going to be a very different team with or without Griffin and/or Drummond. If both are out, it would be hard to trust Detroit. Drummond seems more likely to play than Griffin and he may be able to take over the game. He still has that ability when motivated. My concern for Detroit is that will they have the scoring to compete with Washington. While the Wizards have a poor defense, they will score. Detroit doesn’t have the same scorers that Washington has and may not be able to take advantage of the Wizards’ defense. Detroit had a nice win this weekend on the road, but I am still not ready to take them as a big favorite against anyone.
NBA Prediction: Washington Wizards +6.5
