Spurs reach extension with Popovich
SAN ANTONIO, TX (TheSpread) – The San Antonio Spurs will continue to be coached by Gregg Popovich for the foreseeable future.
The team announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to a multiyear extension with the longtime Spurs coach, but the length and financial terms of the deal were not released.
Popovich is now 65, but he has led the Spurs to five NBA Championships, including the 2014 title with a 5-game win over the Miami Heat. The Spurs have already brought back Boris Diaw and Tim Duncan has announced he will return, making the Spurs a top contender for the 2015 title.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, San Antonio has been given 6/1 odds to win the NBA champions next season. The Miami Heat are listed as the favorites, as they have odds of 11/2 odds.
