Hibbert to be traded to Lakers
LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – League sources tell ESPN.com that the Lakers are nearing agreement on a trade with the Pacers that will bring Roy Hibbert to L.A.
The two teams continue to work on specifics but Hibbert appears destined to become a Laker soon. It’s unclear as of this writing what the Lakers will be giving up in the deal. but Hibbert will be a nice fit next to Julius Randle in Los Angeles’ starting lineup.
The Lakers have been unsuccessful trying to rebuild their roster this offseason. They made pitches to high-profile free agent targets such as LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan but will snubbed. They also lost out on Greg Monroe and Robin Lopez so with a desire to get better but with dwindling options, they’ll absorb all of Hibbert’s $15.5 million salary for next season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Lakers are 200/1 long shots to win the 2016 NBA Finals. The Cavs are 3/1 favorites to win next year’s title while the Spurs are 9/2.
