Dallas re-signs Dirk
DALLAS, TX (TheSpread) – The Dallas Mavericks secured their franchise player on Thursday, agreeing to a new deal for Dirk Nowitzki.
ESPN is reporting that Dallas and Dirk have agreed on a new three-year deal with around $30 million that will keep Nowitzki a Maverick.
The deal is rather tame for someone with Nowitzki’s accomplishments, as he and the team are hoping to lure in stronger free agents to make another run at a NBA title.
Nowitzki averaged 21.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season for Dallas. He is averaging 22.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in his NBA career, which has consisted of 16 seasons, all with Dallas.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dallas has been given 45/1 odds to win the NBA champions next season. The Miami Heat are listed as the favorites, as they have odds of 7/2 odds, while the San Antonio Spurs have 6/1 odds.
