Updated Carmelo Odds
(TheSpread) – Carmelo Anthony has decided to opt out of his contract with the New York Knicks. Here is an updated look at the odds for where he will land.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Chicago Bulls are now favored to land Carmelo, as it has 1/1 odds. Other short odds are the Knicks (9/4), the Miami Heat (9/2) and the Houston Rockets (5/1).
The Bulls have emerged as a favorite as they have money to spend and there is even potential for Chicago to land both Carmelo and LeBron James. The Bulls seem set to get at least one big-name player in free agency with Carmelo among the top targets.
The Knicks have been Carmelo’s team for a few years and with Phil Jackson running the show, they seem certain to improve and contend for a title. The question is whether Phil sees Carmelo as his type of star player.
Miami may look to bring Carmelo in if LeBron is to leave. The Heat could have a lot of money open up if all of the Big 3 opt out of their contracts. LeBron and Carmelo could join up in Miami as well.
Houston is looking for a third piece to join James Harden and Dwight Howard and turn the Rockets into a legit contender for a NBA title. Anthony and James are the top targets for Houston.
