NBA Draft Prop Odds
(TheSpread) – Where will the top players fall in the 2014 NBA Draft? How many international players will be selected? Get a look at the prop odds available for Thursday’s NBA Draft.
One of the focal points of Thursday’s draft falls on Kansas center Joel Embiid .The 7-footer was thought to potentially be the top pick in the draft after the college basketball season ended, but his stock is dropping after he recently had surgery for a broken foot that will force him to miss 4-6 months. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Embiid has been given an over/under 5 for his draft position. Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, shooting 62.6 percent from the floor. ESPN’s NBA Insider Chad Ford lists Embiid as the sixth pick in his latest mock draft, which would send him to Boston. Draftexpress.com lists Embiid as the fourth pick to Orlando. While Embiid has tons of upside, the team that takes him will likely be accepting a poor 2014-15 season.
Another player of interest is Kentucky freshman forward Julius Randle. He has been listed with an over/under of 6.5 for his draft position. Randle averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds in his freshman season for the Wildcats. He stands 6-9 and weighs in at 250 pounds, which is a good forward frame for the NBA. He has the touch around the basket to score in the paint. Chad Ford has Randle going 7th in the draft to the Lakers, as does DraftExpress.com.
Another interesting prop for this week’s NBA Draft is the number of international players to be taken in the first round. Oddsmakers have listed the over/under at 4.5. One of the featured players is point guard Dante Exum, who is expected to be taken in the top 5. Jusuf Nurkic is a 6-11 center out of Bosnia that is expected to be a lottery selection as well. Chad Ford has four international players going in the first round of his latest mock draft.
