Where will Carmelo play next year?
(TheSpread) – Will Carmelo Anthony test the free-agent market, or will he decide to remain with the New York Knicks. His decision is coming by Monday.
Anthony has until Monday to decide if he will opt out of his contract and become a free agent. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Knicks are the clear favorite to retain Anthony, as it has 11/10 odds. The other short odds to land Anthony are the Chicago Bulls (6/5) and the Houston Rockets (9/2).
Anthony could choose to remain with the Knicks and earn a big pay day for another year while the team is controlled by Phil Jackson. Even if he becomes a free agent, Anthony could also sign a new contract with New York.
Chicago is in need of another franchise player as Derrick Rose has proven unreliable due to injuries. Anthony would provide a strong scoring option for a team that has had to rely on defense to win.
Houston is also looking for another piece to create its own “Big Three.” Anthony would join the likes of Dwight Howard and James Harden and perhaps make the Rockets a legit NBA Title contender.
