Irving has fractured knee
CLEVELAND, OH (TheSpread) – The Cleveland Cavaliers got some devastating news on Friday, as Kyrie Irving was diagnosed with a fractured kneecap, ending his NBA Finals.
The Cleveland point guard was dealing with a knee strain heading into the NBA Finals, but still logged 44 minutes in Game 1. He had 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists four two blocks and four steals. In the overtime, Irving suffered a knee injury that was believed to be an aggravation of his original injury, but turned out to be a fractured kneecap. The Cavs will now be without him for the rest of the playoffs.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Warriors are now the clear favorite to win the NBA Finals, as they currently have a money line of -750 to win. The Cavaliers are now listed at +550 to prevail.
Irving was averaging 19.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in the postseason. With Kevin Love already out, the Cavaliers are minus two of their top three players for the NBA Finals. Between the two of them, they averaged 38.1 points, 12.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game during the regular season.
