Cavs now NBA Finals favorite?
CLEVELAND, OH (TheSpread) – The Cleveland Cavaliers are the first team to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals. Is Cleveland now the favorite to win the championship?
The Cavaliers completed a sweep of the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night with a 118-88 victory over the Warriors. Cleveland got a boost by the return of Kyrie Irving, who hadn’t played since Game 1. Irving put up 16 points and five assists in 22 minutes of action while LeBron James closed the series with 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The Cavs now meet either the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets in the NBA Finals, which begin on June 4.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Cavaliers are now being given odds of +190 to win the NBA Finals. The Warriors are still favored, as they are listed at -240, while the Rockets are currently with odds of +10000.
Golden State currently has a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Finals against the Rockets. The key for Cleveland is having more than a week off now to try and get healthy. LeBron has been battling some nagging ankle injuries during this last series and Irving can use more time to strengthen his knee. Cleveland will still be without Kevin Love, who is out for the playoffs with a shoulder injury.
