Chicago established a 2-0 lead in the series on Tuesday with a 111-97 win. The Bulls have now won and covered the spread in three of their last four meetings with Boston. Chicago comes into today 43-41 overall, 25-16 at home and 44-40 against the spread. Boston is 53-31 overall, 23-18 on the road and 40-42-2 against the spread.
The Celtics took a 7-0 lead to start Game 1, but things turned from there and never got back to the start. Chicago went on a 27-8 run from there and didn’t look back. Chicago shot 51.1 percent from the field in the win and was 10-of-25 from 3-point land. The Celtics had 16 turnovers in the loss and was just 11-of-19 at the free-throw line. Jimmy Butler had 22 points with eight assists and eight rebounds to lead the Bulls while Dwyane Wade also had 22 points. Paul Zipser added 16 points off the bench. Isaiah Thomas had 20 points to lead the Celtics, but also had five turnovers.
Boston has to be in desperation mode tonight, but the Bulls have to be playing with a high level of confidence. The offense really seems to be clicking despite a regular season full of drama and distractions. Thomas hasn’t been himself this series, understandably so, given the loss of his sister. Without Thomas playing at the level he did in the regular season, Boston isn’t the same team. I am sticking with the Bulls until the Celtics show me something different.
