Jazz overwhelmed in Game 1
Utah couldn’t find its offensive stride in Game 1 of the series, suffering a 122-90 loss at Houston on Sunday. Utah is now 50-33 on the season, 21-20 on the road, 44-37-2 against the spread and 43-39-1 with the under.
The Jazz shot just 39 percent from the field in Game 1, going 30 of 77 from the field. From the arc, Utah was just 7 of 27 as a team. Donovan Mitchell had 19 points and five rebounds for the Jazz while Rudy Gobert scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Utah didn’t get great bench support in the loss, scoring just 18 points.
Rockets stay hot
Houston continued its strong finish to the regular season, picking up the 32-point win at home in Game 1 of the series. The Rockets are now 54-29 on the season, 32-10 at home, 41-39-3 against the spread and 42-39-2 with the under.
The Rockets were impressive on offense, shooting 48 of 95 from the field. That included 15 3-pointers in the win. They also had just 10 turnovers for the contest. James Harden put up 29 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to lead the Rockets in the win while Clint Capela added 16 points with 12 rebounds. Both Kenneth Faried and Danuel House Jr. each had 11 points off the bench as well.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 road games and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 conference games.
Houston
The Rockets are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last seven home games and 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine conference games.
Prediction:
Utah is a better team than it showed in Game 1, but the Jazz haven’t been terribly strong on the road and their lack of consistent scoring is going to be a problem against this Houston team. The Rockets can put up points quickly and I think it is going to be tough for Utah to compete on the road. The Rockets are playing at a high level right now and I think they will roll to another big win at home tonight.
NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -6.5
